The Hunt for Jack Ryan

If you haven’t seen Prime’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, do yourself a favor and check it out. Damn good television, or should I say, damn good streaming servicing? It’s a damn good show. Even Mama Kaiz approves of it, and it has swear words and people doing the S-E-X stuff.

Ghost War

Jack Ryan (John Krasinski, NBC’s The Office) is literally pulled back into the dark gray (wait, is it gray or grey?) world of espionage and international politics. Joined by returning CIA contractor Mike November (Michael Kelly, Netflix’s House of Cards) and the lovely MI6 spy, Emma Marlow (Sienna Miller, Layer Cake), Ryan must stop another dangerous mercenary from reforming terrorist cells to justify bringing back dark ops units.

The Clancy-Verse

So what I wonder is if this is a revival of the Prime series or the start of something new? Is there any connection to Michael B. Jordan’s Without Remorse? Will Prime ever incorporate Clancy’s book stories into these properties? Any Scottish-sounding Russian submarine captains wanting to defect? Jack being hunted by a vengeful ULA? Rainbow Six?

Smallville had more connections to Superman, and Clark didn’t even fly until the last episode.

The one thing the show ever seemed to reference from the books (that I caught) was a joke about Ryan being president one day. Give us Clancy fans more!

Ghost War and yet not a single ghost in it…

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War is alright, it’s a good movie to check out. Maybe not as good as the show, but it has the same feeling.

John Krasinski and Wendell Pierce (HBO’s The Wire) are great together, having the same chemistry from the show. It’s just too bad it’s too far in between.

Honestly, there’s not much else to talk about. It’s short and feels like a bonus episode from the last season. It really feels like a setup for a show revival.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War is streaming on Amazon Prime.
